Bra size has two measurements; the band (rib cage) and the cup (bust). Cup size does not represent breast size<\/strong> but instead represents the<\/strong> difference<\/strong> between the<\/strong> rib cage and the bust.<\/p>\n

Also the question is, why is breast size<\/strong> and bra<\/strong> size different? Bra cup sizes were first invented in 1932 while band sizes became popular in the 1940s. For convenience, because of the impracticality of determining the size<\/strong> dimensions of each breast, the<\/strong> volume of the bra cup, or cup size, is based on the<\/strong> difference between<\/strong> band length and over-the-bust measurement.<\/p>\n

Likewise, does cup size determine breast<\/strong> size<\/strong>? Bra<\/strong> sizes are made up of two components: An even number that represents the<\/strong> band size (32, 34, 36, etc.), and a letter that indicates the cup size (A, B, C, etc.) determined by the size of the breast itself.<\/p>\n
